Brother of the Wind & the Pen
For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.
Here is Sorez's exclusive March piece, titled Restless, about persevering in the two-wheeled world through the cold and wet of the winter months, and anticipating brighter (and warmer) days with Spring and Summer on the horizon. Glass half full.
Sorez, a long-time contributing writer for Road Hawk Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published in the spring of 2018.
Restless
Rain drops on my visor
Starting to come down
Rolling towards a stop sign
Boots upon the ground
Wipe away accumulation
With thumb of my glove
Rain gear it does keep me dry
Leather helps keep me warm
Rode on throughout winter
Beginning to thaw out
Equinox on the calendar
Summer soon to follow
Just like an emerging bulb
My bike does come to life
Though she didn’t really sleep
Through those winter miles.
Some East Coast grit looking to warmer and sunnier riding days.
