For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.

Here is Sorez's exclusive December piece, titled Begging for Change. A simple play on words can 'change' your perspective on people. Reflect on what you have in this world and what you can offer those in need in this festive season. Wealth of the heart is the true prize.

Sorez, a contributing writer for Outlaw Biker Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published in the spring of 2018.

Begging for Change

For the homeless one
Nothing shall change
This holiday season
People will still point
Laugh and stare
As he tries to survive
Rummaging garbage cans
Face somber and sullen
Clothes torn and tattered
In the mornings
He will awaken
In a cardboard box
His only shelter
Nothing shall change
As calendar pages turn
Others will go on their way
Living their lives
Without caring at all
Pompous individuals, fools
Blind leading the blind
Deaf and dumb
For they do not realize
That the homeless one
They have mocked
Throughout centuries
Is the chosen one
Sent from above
To see if this world
Is truly worth saving
