Brother of the Wind & the Pen
For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.
Here is Sorez's exclusive June piece, titled One Day at a Time ... Make peace with life, make amends when you can ... learn and move forward.
Sorez, a contributing writer for Outlaw Biker Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published in the spring of 2018.
ONE DAY AT A TIME
There were times when I did not care
Let the chips fall wherever they may
But when those chips fell into the gutter
It seemed that is where they would stay
Never a moment when things were dull
Was always out there riding on the edge
A few good things about times gone by
Are that I was able to survive and learn
Sorrows that once tore my soul asunder
Replaced with faith, hope, and love
Rode through the storms, harley thunder
My penance was out there on the road
Made amends to some I have wronged
As I could not just go upon my way
Knowing now what I didn’t know then.

With age comes wisdom ... you slowly realize you have to hold onto the good and release all the rest from your past ... happiness this way lies.
