Brother of the Wind & the Pen
For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.
Here is Sorez's exclusive July piece, titled Two Wheels Forward ... Looking back with a nod to the tough times we've been through, and pushing forward with a positive perspective on life ... maybe the road to happiness, if you choose to accept it.
Sorez, a contributing writer for Outlaw Biker Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published in the spring of 2018.
TWO WHEELS FORWARD
Never thought there’d come a time
When the reflections of a graybeard
Be looking back upon me with a smile
Or that sordid memories would fade
Replaced by those far more meaningful
Recalling the past couple of decades
Gives me cause to double down on life
To be thankful for and to appreciate
Every single mile that I am able to ride
Living the life that I had longed to live
A dream once seemed to be too far away
Having found myself out there on the road
After surviving through chaos for decades
Peace of mind that I had been longing for
Acquired although not of my own doing
Have to wonder could it be positive karma
As are two wheels forward blessed to be
Appreciate life ... it's fleeting. That perspective will give you the strength to get through the troubled times.
