For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.

Here is Sorez's exclusive January piece, titled A JOURNALED JOURNEY. The story of ones life is littered with good and bad memories, but while it is always important to recognize and learn from your past, never let it hold you back from a brighter future. Wise words as 2023 turns into 2024. Wishing you all peace, happiness and prosperity in the coming year.

Sorez, a contributing writer for Outlaw Biker Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published in the spring of 2018.

A JOURNALED JOURNEY

Decades of ink upon my skin
Tats tell tales of where I’ve been
Not every image is a good memory
Most are there as reminders to me
There’s a certain one that is covered up
As miles went by I was not proud of
From some other time, a lifetime ago
A place where there is no going back to
Even deeper than those needles pierced
As tattoos were carved into my skin,
Are rhymes I scribed of life in the wind
Biker magazines gave me some ink
Sharing tales of my lifelong journey
Not every piece when good times ruled
Struggles were real and life was cruel
At times rhymes didn’t make any sense
Because just like life, it is what it is
