Brother of the Wind & the Pen
For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.
Here is Sorez's exclusive April piece, titled On a Wing and a Prayer ... with Spring comes riding season. But be careful out there as car drivers become re-accustomed to their two-wheeled counterparts and road crews deal with the damage winter left behind. Keep the rubber side down, friends, and your eyes peeled.
Sorez, a contributing writer for Outlaw Biker Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published in the spring of 2018.
ON A WING AND A PRAYER
In the zone out there on the road
No need for speed just taking it easy
After enduring the long, hard winter
Shifting seasons is more than welcome
Backroad miles unravel in the breeze
Wind so much warmer than weeks ago
Cherry blossoms compliment budding trees
Getting lost in thought could be deadly …
With constant reminders of dangers faced
While twisting throttle and splitting lanes
Can’t get wrapped up in the midst of beauty
There’s time for that when the bike is cooling
In the saddle while jamming past cagers
Ride down the road on a wing and a prayer

Enjoy Spring ... but ride safe.
