Brother of the Wind & the Pen
For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.
Here is Sorez's exclusive July piece, titled Free to Ride. This July 4, pause and give some thought to the freedoms you enjoy in this country ... "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" come with the responsibility of being prepared to stand up for those rights. Have a safe and memorable Independence Day and keep the rubber side down.
Sorez, a long-time contributing writer for Road Hawk Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. He also released a new magazine of poetry in May, available on his website at sorezthescribe.weebly.com for $14.99 plus shipping. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published back in the spring of 2018.
Free to Ride
Born into a country
Where freedom exists
To live to ride
And ride to live
Have to pay taxes
The fees and tolls
To be able to keep
Yer bike on the road
But there is a feeling
That can only be found
In the wind, on the road
It is more than worth
The price that ya pay
For a tank full of gas
As you go on your way
But do not ever take
Freedoms for granted
They could fade away
Right into the past
Have a safe and memorable July 4.
